Hi all. I'm working in Sierra Leone through the end of April and have been working with Dr. Rosseau to engage the Ministry here in working to fortify rice. We have met with a deputy Minister twice since December and I will be presenting the needs in Sierra Leone and successful efforts in other countries to the entirety of the Ministry next Wednesday. If anyone has any resources such as prior presentations given to Ministries to encourage fortification, please send them my way so that we can be presenting consistent strong data in all of our efforts. I will then edit some of the slides to be context-specific of course to speak to the particular needs here. Thanks!

HI Megan,
I uploaded a GAPSBiF powerpoint slide deck, another one we created for Rotary and pdfs of infographics you can use! They are all under resources tab.

Today I made another presentation to the entirety of the Ministry of Health and a member of the Ministry of Nutrition. I tried to attach the slides here (mostly taken from other resources on this forum), but they the file was apparently too large. The information was well-received and they said they felt this was a strong call to action. I was also told that Sierra Leone has recently partnered with several other West African countries to specifically work on micronutrient fortification implementation. Apparently they just had a 3-day meeting specifically about fortification in Togo last week and have another meeting next week. I have been invited to be in that meeting to represent GAPSBIF and lend support to folic acid fortification and will plan to go if able. I also have another presentation scheduled next Monday morning which is supposed to involve the deputy ministers of several other organizations in the country, including finance, agriculture, and nutrition. I get the feeling this will take some time, but I will continue to try to follow up with my MoH contacts to understand which modes of fortification are most appealing for the Sierra Leone setting and to establish next steps to move forward.
